With the release of its final two episodes, Stranger Things 4 has overtaken all other English-language Netflix series in terms of popularity. The drama collected nearly 1.15 billion hours of viewing time in the first 28 days of each part’s release, according to the streaming juggernaut.
The first seven episodes of the show received 930.32 million hours of viewing time in the first 28 days, according to The Hollywood Reporter. During the week of June 27 to July 3rd, 221 million hours of episodes 8 and 9 were seen.
This places the Netflix series second only to Squid Game, which received 1.65 billion hours of viewing in its first 28 days and is now the most-watched programme ever. Given that the last two episodes have just been available for a short while, it may even surpass Korean success.
Netflix, however, has not yet disclosed if the success of Stranger Things 4 has significantly affected the number of subscribers it has. The third quarter of 2021 saw the company’s strongest subscriber growth of the year, according to the corporation, in part because of Squid Game.
However, Netflix acknowledged in April of this year that it lost roughly 200,000 customers in the first quarter of 2022 as a result of a number of problems, including increased competition and account sharing. The company started back then that it is taking action to turn things around, but we won’t know whether Eleven and the rest of the Hawkins crew were helpful until its upcoming earnings report.
